Oregon’s Climate is Changing

We are a non-partisan team of economic researchers and practitioners who are working to understand how our changing climate will impact the economic reality of Oregonians.

Our work

Our first report details several ways in which Oregon’s changing climate will impose new costs on Oregon’s households, businesses, and local governments. We also provide a primer for understanding the ways economists think about risks and extreme events.

Climate change and household budgets

Coming Winter/Spring 2025

Our second report applies the latest academic research to estimate the impact of climate change on household budgets for Oregonians. We examine the lives and choices of several fictionalized Oregonians from around the state.

“Defensible Space” for businesses and governments

Coming Spring/Summer 2025

Our third report examines the impact of our changing climate on the bottom line for businesses and local governments throughout Oregon. We also discuss the ways in which organizations are already preparing for these changes and provide suggestions for both mitigation and prevention.

Who we are

We are a team of academic and non-academic economists around the state who have decades of experience working to understand the interplay between our environment and our economy.
